Many school administrators have little background in literacy instruction. And yet, they find themselves leading elementary schools where strong literacy instruction is essential. This session provides insight into current practice, strong pedagogy, an understanding of literacy development, and practical strategies that administrators can use within their schools to become more effective literacy leaders.

Karen has over twenty-five years of educational experience as a teacher, school administrator, and English Language Arts Consultant. She enjoys sharing her passion for literacy with teachers, students, and parents either through her publications or presentations.

Karen regularly provides professional development sessions to educators. Most recently, she presented to administrators at CAP2023 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and uLead2023 in Banff, Alberta.
